One of our goals is to provide competent information to potential clients such that they are able to make an informed decision as to whether our office can be of assistance, the strategy to be employed in a case, the time associated with completing a case, any filing fees applicable to a matter and the attorneys fees to be charged in bringing forth clients’ goals.
When you contact Stoller & Moreno, PA and indicate that you would like to speak to one of our attorneys about your case, we will complete a case screening. The case screening is a process we employ to obtain necessary information about the individual who needs assistance and to determine a potential clients’ stated case goals. This information is then forwarded to one of the firm’s partners and a decision is made as to whether a case can be scheduled for a personal or telephone consultation.
The case screening is also a means of determining if it is worth-while for a potential client to schedule an appointment and pay the standard consultation fee. Your time is important, as is your money. If we cannot be of assistance, you will save both your time and money by being told we cannot assist you with your case. If we believe we can assist you then you will be scheduled for a consultation with one of our attorney.
Consultations are an opportunity for a potential client to bring us any and all pertinent documents to their case and to ask any and all questions which they may have on how the client should proceed. It is an opportunity for a potential client to get to know our attorneys and for the attorneys to get to know their potential client and needs. We will do our best to assess your case, to provide our understanding of the issues involved and to give our advice on how to proceed. Sometimes additional time is needed to either research complicated questions or to review documents. Most often, though, we are able to provide you with an answer as to whether we are able to assist you during the consultation.
Some other offices will advertise free consultations for immigration cases. It is our experience that free consultations in the immigration field just do not work. What happens is that time is wasted seeing individuals who cannot be assisted and time constraints limit the amount of “face time” a potential client has with an attorney. So we charge a consultation fee to make sure that individuals who contact our office know that we are serious about providing competent advice and so that we are assured that potential clients are serious about their interest in our services.
Our consultation fees are generally applicable to any fee that we quote to handle work on your behalf. We have handled many cases both in private practice and in government service. Legal problems are often complex and require someone with the knowledge and experience that our firm offers to suggest a workable resolution to your case. Not every consultation results in a potential client hiring our office for further work. But we hope to provide an opportunity where potential clients can obtain answers to their questions and make an informed decision on how to proceed.
We look forward to hearing from you.
